First of, for those of you who do not know, what cisgender means: Link. Anyways, I first realized I wasn't cis many years ago, before I even knew of any nonconforming gender terms. There was always a discomfort with how I was presented or how I was perceived. There was always something wrong. All my efforts to fit into this specific gendered role, were all in order to fit in, never because it's what made me happy. When I was in high school, I began learning about transgender terms, and how there were more than 2 genders, or even more than 3, or 4. That gender (much like sexuality) was subjective and different for every individual. And that there was no right or wrong way for one to present or express themselves. From then on, I began to research different types of gender expression as well as other communities to learn more about this.
